Valencia Celebrates Employee Appreciation Day!

You may have celebrated your boss this past October by recognizing Bosses Day. If bosses can get a special day – why can’t employees too? It’s only fair that employees get their own day of recognition.

Now you can celebrate your employment and bosses can celebrate you! The first Friday of each March marks Employee Appreciation Day to honor employees everywhere. Typically, these celebrations are hosted by the company and recognitions vary widely, including lunch, snacks, cakes and other munchie foods or even small gifts of appreciation. Some may even get the whole day off – but don’t count on it!

According to David Nuualiitia, a holiday historian, Employee Appreciation Day was first added to the calendar in 1995 when Bob Nelson, a founding board member of Recognition Professionals International, created the unusual holiday in partnership with his publishing company, Workman Publishing. The holiday was meant to focus the attention of employers of all industries on employee recognition.

Valencia and the SCV have an excellent reputation for being business friendly – housing over 6,000 companies and continuing to attract new businesses each day. Now it’s time to be employee friendly! Random Acts of Kindness Day

One thing in the SCV that flows in abundance is the local giving spirit. On any given day you can read a story in the paper spotlighting the good deeds of your neighbors across the community.

Friday, February 17, 2012, is Random Acts of Kindness Day. Almost any good deed will do, but you’re encouraged to perform as many kind acts on as many people as you can. People love the idea of showing kindness to others because it’s a fun, good and rewarding thing to do – making both the giver and receiver feel appreciated.

CAUTION: What comes around, goes around. Random acts of kindness are highly contagious!
