AWARD-WINNING SCHOOLS ABOUND IN VALENCIA!

Out of 5,700 elementary schools in California, only 387 were awarded the California Distinguished School status this year, and, from the Newhall School District, Oak Hills was one of three elementary schools to have worked hard enough to receive this honor, joining the abundance of other schools within Valencia to have received this award.

                                           

In order to get to this level of excellence, schools that qualify for this reward have to learn and study through different educational programs to close the achievement gap, which is the difference between the highest and lowest student scores. The students are also tested through state standardized tests, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and Academic Performance Index scores.

In addition to Oak Hills, this year a total of six Santa Clarita elementary schools received this award.  In fact, thanks to the dedication of teachers, staff and students, most, if not all of the schools within Valencia, have been consistently recognized as California Distinguished and/or Blue Ribbon Schools. From elementary through college, Valencia’s highly acclaimed educational facilities have it all covered, and there’s nothing your child can’t do.
