Down. Set. Hike.

Now that school has been back in session for a few weeks, it’s time to focus on this season’s local football teams.

The schools from the CIF-Southern Section Northern Division are all stepping it up and bringing their “A” game.

Here’s a list of the teams that you should be looking out for this season.

Hart Indians

  • Hart is one of the most respected teams in this division. Starting out as the number 1 team, they have managed to maintain their lead this season.
  • Wide receiver Wes Fitzpatrick scored two touchdowns in the game against Birmingham.

Valencia Vikings

  • Valencia has been exhibiting a great balance of defense and offense this season.
  • Quarterback Sean Murphy had a huge game, going 24-of-34 for 374 yards and scoring five touchdowns.

Canyon Comanches

  • Canyon had this past week off, but that didn’t stop them from practicing hard to be the best.

West Ranch Wild Cats

  • The Wild Cats played a competitive game against St. Francis last week – but didn’t claim the victory. The team has this week off and will regroup and practice hard to take home a victory next game.
  • Wide receiver and Senior Rawston Redick has been a major force in the 2012 season, catching eight passes for 166 yards with two touchdowns, including a 79-yarder in last week’s game.

Golden Valley Grizzlies

  •  Last week the Grizzlies faced Notre Dame.
  • Be on the lookout for running back Leon Jacobs who has been the Grizzlies’ top performer for three weeks straight, rushing 19 times for 75 yards in last week’s game alone.

Make sure to check out each team’s website to learn when and where your favorite team is playing next!

  1. I’m amazed, I must say. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s equally educative and amusing, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. The problem is something too few folks are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy I stumbled across this during my search for something relating to this.
