Want a quick dose of arts and culture? Look no further than Valencia. As the home of CalArts, Valencia is no stranger to creative expression, and murals, sculptures and integrated art are all over the community.
Don’t miss the “Heritage Bear” in Valencia Heritage Park. The first of six California Bear Project sculptures, this five-foot statue is painted with pictures of local historical events and makes a big splash with kids. Its brother “Climbing Tree Bear” is in Westfield Valencia Town Center, where you’ll always see new art at the Small Spaces, Big Stories gallery and Town Center Art Space. You can even make your mark by adding to the Community Wall.
Make sure you also check out the best and brightest of local art. Valencia’s College of the Canyons Art Gallery is open to the public and draws crowds with new exhibits throughout the year. Plus, you can look for exhibits at CalArts by checking their calendar. Since it’s on record as one of the top fine arts programs in the country, you’ll want to keep your eyes on the upcoming talents at CalArts.
For a taste of history, see the “Walk of Western Stars” and “California Vaquero” murals on Market Street in Old Town Newhall. Even the hand-painted trashcans, each done by a local artist, are right at home with Santa Clarita Valley’s flair for public artwork.
Living in Valencia is even better with world-class art at your feet. Get out and enjoy it!
