Awesometown Gives Back
The holidays are always a great opportunity to give back to the community, and Valencia residents were out in numbers donating their time and resources. Volunteers and groups all over town brought happiness and much needed help to others through events and drives.
Residents held toy and food drives to collect for others, and were able to distribute goods to people both locally and around the world. Afterburn Fitness collected gifts for soldiers deployed in Afghanistan, the Santa Clarita Youth Activities League’s “Adopt a Family” drive provided dinners to local families in need and countless local businesses held drives for local charities holiday period.
There were also many local events in town. Among others, the Santa Clarita chapter of Junior Chamber International and the Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita held a Holiday Heroes event, writing cards and letters to injured Marines, the Assistance League Santa Clarita worked with LensCrafters to provide eye exams and glasses for children and Combat Radio held an annual event at Salt Creek Grille giving toys to hundreds of children from local organizations.
The sense of community is strong in Valencia, and every holiday season provides great examples of residents coming together for the greater good.
