It turns out happiness is not just a state of mind, it’s a place called Santa Clarita, CA. A new report by Smartasset.com analyzed 200 U.S. cities and based on the metrics of personal finance, wellbeing and quality of life, ranked the top 25. California cities dominated the top-ten (no surprise), with Santa Clarita landing at number nine on the list (again, we saw this coming).
The qualities that helped Santa Clarita achieve such a high ranking include low poverty, low crime rates, and marital bliss (a high percentage of the population has taken their vows). Not coincidentally, these are many of the same things you’ll find at Valencia, our little new home community in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Best of all, some of the things that make the area such a great place to live—nearby scenic hiking trails, excellent schools, and an active social calendar that brings the community together—were not heavily factored into the study. Which means, Santa Clarita is really off the charts when it comes to happiness. Just ask anyone who calls this place home.
